Original Hand-Colored and Matted Civil War Engraving
Titled  - "Skirmishing in the Woods on the Advance to Vicksburg"
Don't know which of the old illustrated newspapers this came from or the date of publication, but they were either during the war or in the years following the war's end.  I purchased a huge collection of these old engravings with many of them loose and trimmed.  A few of them, like this one, were hand-colored.  Don't know when that was done, either.
It's a very 'busy' illustration and I thought a plain mat would help it.  The mat is a very pale green and is top quality acid-free mat board.  The image size is approx. 8" x  9-1/4"   The overall size with mat is 13"x  13-1/4"  The print itself is in very good condition.  There's a part of another engraving on the other side.
